Growing up in the dental field (my dad was a dentist in the Chicago suburbs) I have worked in all areas within the dental staff. I’ve had the pleasure of working for Dr. Halsema since moving to the area in 1996, first as a substitute hygienist and software trainer (my other job), then transitioning to being her office manager. When not working at the office, I train other dental practices on dental practice management software. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my 2 grown children and granddaughter, my dogs, my friends, reading, cooking and being an active member of my church and P.E.O., a philanthropic educational organization for women.
I joined Dr. Halsema’s team in 2015. I bring with me 12 years of expanded dental assisting experience. The best part of my job is getting to interact with and help patients with their dental needs while continuing to learn from Dr. Halsema who accepts nothing less than excellence. I have 2 children, Madyson and Devin. Our family is completed with our two dogs Lady and Tiny. In our free time my children and I enjoy everything outdoors, watching movies and anything that brings laughter.
I have been a hygienist for 10 years. I love getting to know my patients better each time they come in for their cleanings. I moved to the Indianapolis area just over a year ago after getting married. In my spare time I enjoy playing on my volleyball league and biking. I also have a large garden and I like to cook using the produce I grow and pick!
Dr. Halsema hired me while my husband and I were climbing a 14,000 ft. mountain in Colorado! Since then, I have been honored to be a part of Dr. Halsema’s team and have focused my effort on the oral health of my patients. I believe each patient is a unique individual. It is my goal to identify and meet their dental needs in order positively affect their overall health. After work, my family and I enjoy hiking, running, cookouts and games.
I have been a hygienist for over 35 years, most of them have been with Dr. Halsema. I am an IU grad and a Hoosier sports fan as well as having a passion for our Indianapolis Colts. I love playing fantasy football, traveling and am a big “foodie.” I have been married to my Chef/Sysco Sales husband, Steve, for over 35 years. We have 2 sons, a daughter and a 3 year old granddaughter. Talking to my patients about everything from good oral home care to which new restaurant they should try is what I love to do. Being a part of Dr. Halsema’s team and learning from her has made me a better hygienist and a better person.
